"Am I 5 now??"

Nicola made Athea a super fabulous chocolate fairy cake!
Athea invited her friends and their older siblings so it was a win win win... Athea had friends, Haidyn had friends and Eric and I had our friends because many of the parents stayed. (which was great! =) 14 Kids, 11 Adults and one sweet baby.. =)

The kids had an hour in the gym to participate in all sorts of cool things. Swinging from a trapeze, leaping, twirling, jumping, climbing, balancing, running, rolling and just having fun exerting energy..

Gifts from afar and poetry...
Athea got 2 cool packages in the post for her birthday. The first one was from my parents and I captured the moment on video... My mom cleverly put numbers on the 4 packages, Athea immediately but the gifts in order (well backwards) and started opening up the goods. (Blogger now allows video uploaded straight to their site and it actually has been working! so ta da you get some home movies to enjoy.. I did notice that the picture blurs and then goes into focus quite a bit.. that is not your eyes it is the camera operator or the camera.. who knows .. it is not the best quality but I put the video up because I thought my mom might enjoy seeing Athea open her awsome gifts....=)
The other came from Grandma Jo, Pa Pa and GG Olga... this I sadly did not have a chance to capture on video... they sent a really cool cookie baking kit with cookie cutters shaped as letters... this came all the way from Montana. Athea is thrilled and can hardly wait to get to baking in the kitchen. (maybe this weekend
Haidyn has pajama day at school today and also has to recite a poem in front of the whole class. She has been practicing it all week. It is a poem that she picked out of a poem book.
Maybe she will not get nervous if she visualizes all her classmates wearing their PJs.... hmm not hard to do... (I crack myself up =)
Enjoy! Have a great weekend..

More art and memories....

We were amused to see that she included the American flag in her drawing because she does not see that too much here in NZ. (her art teacher was amused too)
She told us, "I put the flag in my picture because I love America, they have cute squirrels, nice parks, lots of friends and family... they just speak my language."

We think it is also because of all the fun she had during our time there... here are some more pics that I did not post earlier from our Minnesota leg of the trip. (I was getting a little heat from my family for not posting photos)

We did have a ton of fun with our family and friends. We sure miss them and loved seeing them!
We do have good friends out here in New Zealand too and feel really lucky.. Just wished we owned our own jet plane so we could see everybody more often.

World of Wearable Arts Show at Haidyn's School

My dear Haidyn just finished her World of Wearable Arts (WOW) show at school.
This is a show where the children make a costume and get to wear it on stage.
Haidyn's class had a sea creature theme, so Haidyn decided to make a sea turtle.
These are pictures of the sea turtle through Haidyn's eyes.
She used, paper mache, markers, paints, fabric, and glitter (of course)
She cut out hexagons from fabric and colored a design on them before glueing them onto the paper mache shell.
We went to the whole school production at school on Tuesday. It was really fun to see the creative creatures that the children became.
