What a busy exciting week.
Our crazy exciting election week ended with a bang in our town in NZ... We had the annual Guy Fawkes Celebration at Breaker Bay (our own lil burning man on the beach)
You might remember from last year that our little neighborhood has a burning man competition and bon fire for the Guy Fawkes holiday. Last year we were spectators, this year we were participants.
We made a "Sly Guy Fox" he has a paper mache bomb in his arm to burn up Parliament. This was mostly because a language barrier on my part made me think FOX instead of Fawkes.. it made me laugh and thus the inspiration.. (if you do not know about "Guy Fawkes" you may want to Google it to find the history of the holiday.)
For an added twist to our burning effigy, we had friends write on a piece of wood any thought, woe or event that they wanted to burn up from this last year or life.... we stuffed this little wooden "angst" into his belly of Mr Fox to get ready for the big burn.. (Can you guess what I wrote on my wood??? )

gone.. (seems a bit morbid.. but it was fun. It was extra satisfying to watch all last years woes burn in the fox's belly)
Our Fox Fawkes won the competition and Athea opened the prize. It was a cool hot wheels scooter.. pretty neat!

I remember when we were in England for it 2 years ago.. they went CUH-RAY-ZEE. There were fireworks all week!

So where on the beach were you, I didn't recognize your house. Leave it to Anna to think of sly fox. Great. Looked like fun. Hey, I thought it was suppose to be getting warm. It is cold and snowing rain here in Minnesnowta
