In search of the Dragon teeth
On Tuesday when the entire Reynolds clan was gone, the Devery clan went searching for the dragon teeth and Paua shells.
The night before was a full moon. This is the view from their front yard overlooking Breaker Bay.
The dragon teeth rocks are the ones I showed you in a previous blog. They are down a path to the left (North) of their house. You cross over the rock beach through a rock tunnel to the bare butt beach. (Lots of soft sand for those cute little butts). Luckily we didn't see any bare butts hanging out yesterday. Actually we were the only people on the beach until two ladies with 4 large dogs showed up. (Not the best for two 5 year olds who are scared of dogs). We let them go ahead.

As you can see the dragon teeth rocks are quite huge. Dani is standing on one of the rocks.
Anna cooked us a wonderful chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and creamed corn for her favorite nieces. Corn on the cob for the big folks "Maize". The twins melted and I put them to bed. They seem to use their last energy eating before finally crashing.

We brought back a bucket full of smelly shells, mostly broken Paua, but here is a picture of a nice one. The famous New Zealand Paua shell.
Haidyn had a school conference at 3:00, so we played at the park until they were done. I finally figured out why my pecks are sore today. I had to catch 3 girls, one at a time, at the bottom of the huge slide for 40 minutes. Whew, I was ready to move onto Tea tme.

We headed down the road for afternoon Tea at the "Chocolate Fish". A cool little cafe overlooking the water. We all had hot chocolates and fruit dips. (Bananas, oranges and apple slices with yogurt and chocolate spread). Everyone gets a chocolate fish, which is a pink marshmallow covered in chocolate. Quite delish as you can see by some of the chocolate covered faces. The kids played in the sand before we ate, then it was time to head home.

Wedsnesday was the outing with Haidyn's school to the beach. However, we made it down the hill and it started to rain. We turned around and walked back up the hill. Try again tomorrow. A teacher ploy to get the kids some exercise.
So we left Haidyn at school and headed to downtown Wellington to see the Te PaPa National Museum. I'll post more pictures later of the museum.

Wow, Gail, the beaches are so incredible there. How fun for you and your kiddos to see so many cool things and good work on the shell collecting.
