Hello again!

Well after Christmas, we headed down to the South Island to do some camping. These islands are bigger than you think. We concentrated out camping on just the teeny tiny northern tip of it. Mostly around Abel Tasman National Park. Looking on a map, it looks like we didn't make it very far from Wellington, but it is a different world. Because Wellington is on the south west point of the North Island, and Abel Tasman is on the north east point of the South Island. And it really makes a difference which side of an island you are on in the Pacific Ocean. While Wellington stayed pretty miserable for the whole time off, we enjoyed what is considered the sunniest part of New Zealand.

Here we are enjoying all our new camping stuff. New tent, hammock, stove, lamp, etc. etc. I believe Athea is napping in the tent in this picture which explains the calm serenity of the scene. We camped for seven days, broken up by four days of hotel.

Here is another picture of this rock. We did a nice long hike to get to this beach. The following picture of Haidyn overlooking the sheep pastures is part of the trail to this beach. This is a beach just west of the Farewell Spit which is at the very very northern point of the South Island. Oh, our girls do love to run around in the sand.

Jumping back to Christmas stuff, here is Athea with her new electric piano. Now I love Anna and all, but even she is starting to wonder where her head was when she bought this thing. It makes horrendous sounds. So, of course, Athea loves it and has a complete fit if anyone else touches the buttons, or tries to turn it off. It has six or so buttons which play whole songs. Hideous songs. Anna watched Athea one afternoon, mashing all the buttons together, and softly muttering "come on music, come on music..."

...need...to....get....real....piano......

Wow, the South Island looks so beautiful! Thanks for sharing the photos. That may be the only way we see the South Island with those ferry prices (yikes!). Your camping trip looks heavenly. What a perfect way to enjoy the outdoors.

Don't tell Athea, but Liam was rockin' that keyboard the other day while she & Ronan were at school....and LOVED it. It is so obnoxious! No pain, no gain.

Oh sun.. how I am jealous of you guys and your summer! Good to hear from you ole man reynolds! Your girls get prettier by the day! Glad you are feeling better and hope going back to work after 3 weeks off isn't too rough!

I can see it now, the Reynolds are off camping just for the peace and tranquility
to get away from Athea’s music machine.
You mentioned Abel Tasman National Park is where you went camping.
Today in our paper they had a question on Isaac Asimov’s super quiz Who was generally credited with each discovery and for New Zealand it was Abel Tasman. So everyday we learn something new.
Sure is great to see the awesome pictures of the South Island and also the supershots of the kids. Glad to see the blog again. Keep it up.

Big sis says..
Glad you are back on the blog. I miss seeing updates everyday. Great camping gear. I have a keyboard that Aunty Julie bought Matt years ago. The girls found it on the top shelf of the closet a few weeks back. They love it, but when you have one play'n, the other singing to Karoke, the press a button from the laptop, even my head spins. TTYSoon, our trip is all planned. You have one more move a birthday and valentines before we get there. Do they celebrate Valentines?

Looks like a beauty of a vacay!

We have acquired one of those toys of pain as well...the Dora kitchen may be cute. But, there are only so many times you can hear the three songs on her radio before it gets strung up and eventually will magically disappear as fast as you can say Hola.:)

You guys have fun with that one...:) We'll be thinking of you at 6 a.m. when Mhari and Dora are cooking breakfast

Ok Anna, I understand you are probably just now coming out from under piles and piles of holiday laundry. I too know that you have to do the work/school run basically Anna's taxi service. Now, all that being said, whereare you woman? Some of us need you around here! Where are the clever witty comments and pictures of two beautiful girls?? Annnnaaaaaaaaaaaa
